Description:

Cast iron fire dogs with busts became popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They were produced in foundries as affordable art pieces. These art pieces typically depicted historical figures, literary characters, or representations of people. This bust would have been attached to a fire dog but since then the length has been shortened making it more versatile in home and garden decor. I use the busts as bookends, in my garden in my planters etc.  They are a surprising and historical touch in any decor.
